How I Solved My Macbook Pro Overheating Issues
Last year, we shared some advice on how Macbook Pro owners can address the overheating issues they may be experiencing with their laptops.
The post was inspired by my very own 2007 Macbook Pro that almost always seemed to run hot. Over time, my Macbook Pro went from sounding like a jetliner to randomly shutting down and it was at that point that I knew something had to be done.
How I Fixed My Macbook Pro’s Overheating Issue
So, I opted to follow 4/5 of the Macbook Pro cooling tips previously shared:
- Cleaned out the dust
- Replaced the thermal paste
- Upgraded to a SSD
- Use the Macbook Pro on a hard surface
The only tip I didn’t bother with is purchasing a cooling pad and that’s because my laptop no longer runs hot. The fans rarely turn on and my Macbook Pro runs completely silent thanks to the SSD upgrade.
Is Your Macbook Pro Running (Too) Hot?
If you’re having issues with your Macbook Pro overheating, I’d definitely recommend following the steps above. Additional items you may want to look into are updating the firmware and/or replacing your fan (if it isn’t functioning properly).
